  • 1 lb 450g carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter unsalted
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon optional
  • 1/2 cup water or vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp fresh parsley optional

Optional Additions:

  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp orange zest
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper

Instructions

  • Prepare the Carrots – Wash, peel, and slice the carrots into even pieces.
  • Cook the Carrots – In a large skillet, add the carrots and water or broth. Simmer over medium heat, covered, for 6–8 minutes until slightly tender.
  • Make the Glaze – Drain excess liquid. Add butter, brown sugar, salt, and pepper to the pan. Stir to coat the carrots.
  • Caramelize the Carrots – Cook over medium-low heat for another 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the glaze thickens.
  • Add Final Touches – Stir in any optional ingredients like honey, cinnamon, or orange zest. Let the carrots caramelize slightly.
  • Serve and Enjoy – Transfer to a serving dish, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use fresh, firm carrots for the best texture.
  • Adjust sweetness to your preference by modifying the sugar or honey.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat on the stovetop over low heat or in the oven at 300°F for 10 minutes.
