Ingredients

  • 4 medium russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Optional toppings: sour cream shredded cheese, bacon bits, chives, butter

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  • Wash and scrub the potatoes, drying them thoroughly.
  • Poke several holes around each potato with a fork.
  • Coat each potato with olive oil (or melted butter) and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket, ensuring they have enough space for air circulation.
  • Air fry the potatoes at 400°F (200°C) for 35–40 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Check doneness by inserting a fork into the thickest part of the potato—if it slides in easily, the potatoes are done.
  • Let the potatoes cool for a minute, slice open, and add your favorite toppings. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftover baked potatoes in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 5–10 minutes to restore crispiness.
  • Variations: Try topping with sour cream, cheese, or crispy bacon bits for a loaded version.
  • For a garlic-parmesan twist, brush with melted butter and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  • Tip: Flip the potatoes halfway through the cooking time for even crispiness on both sides.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket for the best results.
