Ingredients

For the Dough (Homemade Option)

  • 2 ¼ teaspoons 1 packet active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water 110°F
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Or use store-bought pizza dough or refrigerated biscuit dough for convenience.

For the Filling

  • 1 cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 20-25 pepperoni slices
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • For the Garlic Butter Topping
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese optional

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  • If making homemade dough, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  • (Skip this step if using store-bought dough.)

Step 2: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 3: Assemble the Pizza Bombs

  • Roll out the dough and cut it into 3-inch squares (or flatten biscuit dough).
  • Add ½ teaspoon of marinara sauce, shredded mozzarella, and a pepperoni slice to each piece.
  • Fold and pinch the dough edges together to form a ball.
  • Place seam-side down on the baking sheet.

Step 4: Brush with Garlic Butter

  • Mix melted butter, garlic, Italian seasoning, and salt in a small bowl.
  • Brush generously over each pizza bomb.
  • Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese for extra flavor.

Step 5: Bake to Perfection

  • Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Sealing the dough properly prevents cheese from leaking.
  • Use pre-cooked pepperoni to avoid excess grease.
  • Experiment with fillings like mushrooms, bell peppers, or sausage.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5–7 minutes.
  • Freezing: Freeze unbaked pizza bombs and bake straight from frozen, adding an extra 5 minutes to the cooking time.
